What lies ahead, I have no way of knowing
But under my feet, baby, grass is growing
It's time to move on, time to get going
Broken skyline
Movin' through the airport
She's an honest defector
Conscientious objector
Now her own protector
A broken skyline
Which way to love land?
Which way to something better?
Which way to forgiveness?
Which way do I go?
Yeah, it's time to move on, time to get going
What lies ahead, I have no way of knowing
But under my feet, baby, grass is growing
It's time to move on, time to get going
Sometime later
Getting the words wrong
Wasting the meaning
and losing the rhyme
Nauseous adrenalin
Like breakin' up a dogfight
Like a deer in the headlights
Frozen in real time
I'm losing my mind
Yeah, it's time to move on, time to get going
What lies ahead, I have no way of knowing
But under my feet, baby, grass is growing
It's time to move on, it's time to get going
Yeah, it's time to move on, time to get going
What lies ahead, I have no way of knowing
But under my feet, baby, grass is growing

Yeah, it's time to move on, it's time to get going.
I work in medicine and have noticed a disturbing trend of rock/movie star deaths from prescription medications. It got me interested and I started a growing list. Tom Petty, Michael Jackson, Prince, Elvis, Taylor Hawkins, Chris Cornell. Opioids and benzodiazepines look the most deadly combination. With the recent opioid epidemic, I guess it's not rocket science that there is something not right in the US with the prescribing of drugs by MDs. Sorry to be a downer but loved all these musicians. RIP
A doctor friend of mine said that the only way to overdose on Valium would be if a ton fell off a pallet and landed on your head.
Can you please spare me the religion. Always Christian. Always exclusion. Always over and over. We don't need any more mass mental illness. Yeah, that'll cut out half the songs. But at lease spare the overt, church jesus, lord, same 2000 year inane idocracy.
Either you are commenting on the wrong forum or you need therapy urgently (Spoken as an agnostic)

What the hell are you blathering on about?
(Not this song, clearly.)

You're not a very happy camper, are you?

What are you talking about? There's nothing overtly Christian about "Time To Move On", friend.
I don't think he was one of the Highwaymen.
But they are passing.
Tom was a lightweight compared to Vienna
Mostly harmless
This is great song. Very awesome! :)
Forever in our memory and our hearts.
Funny. I just hit PSD to get away from that horrible Yes song and landed on this gem. To each his own I would say.
Quite frankly, Wildflowers may be Tom Petty's best album.
marvelous... love it...
Everybody in my church loves this song...
Same beat, more or less, but I suspect many others do not harbor that expectation.
I certainly had Graceland going through my head as this started.
Good song from a good album that I have not played for years.
It's that snare but the songs are quite different. I see your point, though.
Great stuff.

Tom Petty has aged real well, in my opinion.
You sure about that? This album is almost 20 years old.
This one from TP has found it's way onto my player time and time again. The whole doggone album, for me, is a road trip must-have!
It's time to move on, it's time to get going
I'm not a huge TP fan, but that lyric always gets me.

Agreed. This album sold me on him. A true songsmith.
+1
x2
This is one of his best. Not a bad song on it.

Wildflowers is simply awesome.

I think this person's saying that Obama needs to get on with his agenda with or without the support of Congressional Democrats. That, or they're from Nevada and they wish Harry Reid would go away.
Something about this song makes me reach for the mute at some speed, even though I like some of Petty's other stuff :(
Maybe, and it is just a suggestion, you do not understand the important role of "road songs" in NA culture.
Also known as "The Brazilian"
Whistle in the dark much?
Whistling while your whining... Time to move on, time to get going, what lies ahead I have no way of knowing.
Pretty damn good. The economy is slowly coming back after 8 years of "downhill on a rail" and people like you are whinin' like babies.
Whistle in the dark much?
So, how's that hopey-changey thing working out for ya?

AKA The Shrub.
That would be 41. 43 is Bush the Least.
Same for me! New country, new home, now job,...cheerful song !
Which would intimate that Sr. is Bush the Greater...don't know if I can roll with that.

My sentiments exactly. He doesn't sound so darned stoned and sleepy in this one.
