I lied and told her I loved her,
She didn't care, but anyway
I told her we'd still be friends,
And she didn't care, but anyway
I tried last week for to call her,
She wasn't home, but anyway
I think I'll spend my life alone,
I really don't care right now, but anyway
It's a state of affairs and a state of emotions
The kind of thing that you must understand
I tell you one thing; you tell me another
We walk away, maybe then shake hands
I'm quitting cigarette smoking
It's bad for me, but anyway
I don't think the TV was joking
When it told me this, but anyway
The newsman said not to sit on strange toilet seats
It's my life he's trying to save, but anyway
I found out that I've got eye cancer
Too many television waves, but anyway
It's a state of affairs and a state of emotions
The kind of thing that you must understand
I tell you one thing; you tell me another
We walk away, maybe then shake hands
Some day an answer will find us
Quite a long shot, but anyway
I think the past, the past is behind us
Be real confusing if not, but anyway
I put all my hope in tomorrow
It's gonna be great, I can tell but anyway
I see a new, a new day a dawning
I like to sleep late, oh well, but anyway
It's a state of affairs and a state of emotions
The kind of thing that you must understand
I tell you one thing; you tell me another
We walk away, maybe then shake hands

Still awful after all these years.

Great tune, reminds me of carefree college days out on the Quad playing frisbee in the sun, thanks RP
I went to that same school.
I always thought their rhythm section was terrific and what made the punchy crispness of this band.
EEEGAADDS!
Truely pure positive, optimist good song anyway. Please more loop but anyway.
you are politician, you can try lifetime anyway... :D :D
Wow never knew there were so many blues traveler haters on RP. I think they were great back in their heyday. I suspect the folks that hate them may have never seen them back then.
How many here because of Kingpin?
Oh, wait. This isn't YouTube!

Maybe if the guy learned another riff......
Blues Traveler was fortunate to open up for a Rolling Stones Tour and at one time, Popper asked Keith if he would ask Mick if he would agree to play harp with him on stage. Mick's answer: Like battling harmonicas? I don't think so, and he plays too many notes. Well summed up, Mick.
fast food nation fortified harmonica at it's finest

I would have to strongly disagree, being a passionate harmonica player and listener.John Popper plays way too many notes, too fast, too high. It's not hard to do.It's his style.I prefer the slower more soulful approach(Sonny Boy,Little Walter, etc.)more recently Paul Butterfield.Putting Popper in the Harmonica Hall of Fame is like putting Trent Green(A KC reference)in the Football Hall of Fame.....he was pretty good, but come on.
sorry, BAD analogy. Trent Green would not make the HOF because he didn't have achievements that are measurable. You say John Popper wouldn't "make it" because of your personal opinion. I don't like Tom Brady, but that doesn't mean he isn't a phenomenal player. You prefer slow, John still rocks, bad analogy is bad.
Sucked back in the day... And still sucks!

I'll second that on both counts! If there's a harmonica Hall of Fame, this band definitely deserve a place in it.

I just got to listen to nearly an HOUR of 2 guys with backpack leafblowers outside the office window completely drowning out the RP tunes and the first song that comes back on is THIS fat guy blowing spit through a mouth harp? Bejeezus H. Christ it's really too much for one man to bear...

Not true in my case. I like lots of bands that are all over FM to this day. Blues Traveller just sucks.
I dont like this song IN ANYWAY

I always get those two confused. I sit here thinking I'm hating Barenaked Ladies when I'm actually hating Blues Traveler and vice versa.

I agree... I was so bored of this...years ago...

Good tune.
They had their place, but you're right. It became the same old, same old after a while.

Me too. I friggin' aspire to it. Takes work, though.

For the second time in as many days I can't leave work because I love the song! Thanks a lot, Bill.
Brilliant band, brilliant piece of work

hated it. . .
Ha, Ha, Ha,
From that harmonica on the October Project to this ragged piece.
Get it? Bill's going on the harmonica theme here.
October Project - solid 8
Blues Traveler - solid 3 (this thing has been played to death!). Put it to bed (or bury it in the ground).

I want whatever flavor of crack you're smoking. Radiohead = Blues Traveler? Wow. And what exactly does the color blue say?
Having seen both Radiohead and BT in concert, I'd much prefer the former to the latter. And this song is decent at best. Yawntastic.
WTF, this version sucks! If I wanted the edited version I'd go listen to FM radio.
BOO HISS

you said it buddy.
this used to be a cool harmonica?
Now we're talking!
Saw these guys this past fall on the Star of India here in San Diego, it was a private show put on by 102.1 (commercial radio isn't all bad ). Popper and the boys mingled with the crowd of 200 or so after playing for an hour or so, very intimate setting and definitely a good time. They can still rock.
damn, this is the edited guitar solo version...
But anyway... what the heck happend to these guys?
They were amazing to listen to and really had a great groove going on
love blues traveller. shame they had a few hits (and missses) and arent taken seriously on the jam band circuit anymore. horrible the damage a few drunk frat boys singing your songs can do...
good tune. A+. pleasant experience. exactly as described. will listen to again.
Since I first heard them on the radio I was blown away by their rythm, voices and composition. Nothing short of an 8, although not all songs are this upbeat.
awesome tune.
5 but anyway
This is a great tune. I tried to upload Trina Magna from Save His Soul, which I also think is a great tune, but it got dissed.
Every time I hear these guys now I think of Amish bowlers. Not that that's a bad thing.....

Not a fan of this album. This song is the best cut off of it, and it's still just okay. These guys definitely improved with age.
If you are referring to BT's first, self-titled album, I could not disagree more. I was a fan of their's before they got signed and to me nothing they have recorded since has matched the energy, raw feeling and clean songwriting of that album. And every song on there is a home run winner. At the very top of my list of desert island CDs. I suggest at least one relisten.
However, if you are referring to this GH complilation, I have no comment and leave you to your opinion.

C'mon, how can you not love this song!
Your emoticon with the sword reminds me of seeing these guys at First Ave in Mpls. back in about '92 or so. It was after Poppers accident and he was still in a wheelchair. At one point they were just rockin and he pulled out this 3 or 4 foot long sword and was waving it around and singing/shouting his ass off. I wish I could remember the particular song. It was awesome. I think they played for like three hours that night.

Harp gymnastics - pure joy...
I still think Travellers and Thieves is their best album,though...
oh HELLSSS YEAH : thumbs UP! :D:D
Wow. I can't decide if the vocals are more annoying than the harmonica.
I know BT has a stong following but I just find them grating, supplying me with both heebies and jeebies.
C'mon, how can you not love this song!
Old BT.... perfect....
