Maybe. Or maybe that's just what you would have done in his position. I personally think he's better than that. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/...
So he basically released an acoustic best-of album. $$$$$$$$

I don't think it's necessary for bono to redo these songs, the originals will go down as the best. that said, if I was the original artist I might be able to understand wanting to do something differently - even if it's not better to the audience. but clearly, this is nowhere as good as the original. yes just mo.

This is really missing Larry.

Well said, xray38, but that doesn’t mean I have to like it as much as I do the original.
Maybe too mellow for the song's message? I think it needs the anger of the original. That said, it's his song to do with as he pleases.

That opening moanalogue turned me off immediately.
Taking the original song, which was more of a battle cry against injustice, and turning it on its ear into more of a lamentation was a bold choice. To me, this is more of a song of lost faith. Changing the original lyrics, "to claim the victory Jesus won" to "where is the victory Jesus won?" pretty much matches the solemn tone of this heartfelt but forlorn version.

I personally think that the additional lyrics - add a flavor of poerty and reflects what a timeless work of art this song was.
Reinterpretation of music by the original composer often sounds to me like a bad second attempt ....
It’s not the same song without the drums tearing up the background
Wow - that’s just wonderful. Thanks for playing that - made my day
Nice but I'll go with the original and the best
And I would say that since he wrote about the human condition - and has that really changed? Has all of our tech advancements decreased our hungry for war?
I believe he still hasn't found what he is looking for .... and neither have I.
(see what I did there?)
