Toe to toe
Dancing very close
Barely breathing
Almost comatose
Wall to wall
People hypnotised
And they're stepping lightly
Hang each night
in Rapture

Back to back
Sacrailiac
Spineless movement
And a wild attack

Face to face
Sadly solitude
And it's finger popping
Twenty-four hour shopping
in Rapture

Good grief - you people try to suck the love out of everything - miserable fucking bastards. This is a really great version. The bass line alone is priceless. Stop posting hate or anger about art, itโ€™s wasted energy you idjits.

THIS.

Also, great song - this version and...well...all of them, really.
Debbie Harry, the subject of many teenage boy's wet day dream.

Thank goodness this version doesn't include that silly rap about the man from Mars eating cars. This resurrects a good song.

Glad it's not just me that hates that 'rap'

Thank goodness no one cares what you think. The original song was perfect as the artist intended it to be.
Yo Debbie, go Debbie..
You can speed this up, slow it down or play it backwards (70s style LOL) and that bass will still rock you!
Those eyes.
Not a fan of this one. It doesn't need some crazy beat to "fix it up".. the original song stands on its own even after 43 years.

Damn kids.
Much better without the rap...

This is very, very COOL.
That bass.
ace of bass
This is a great remix.
Went hiking Saturday with a guy who  is absolutely convinced he'll be taken in The Rapture.  So much so, he set up a trust for his kids.  Refrained from suggesting that if The Rapture does indeed happen, laws and society will dissolve within 48 hours along with his carefully planned trust.

This version?  So-so.  Ms  Harry's photo has been fabulously remixed, however.
just awful. corny AF.  i suppose it could be worse. they coulda spliced in Doug E Fresh and The Human Beatbox
I prefer the original, that would get a 10 from me.  This version, only 7.
Love the bass riff.

That's exactly what made this a great song; well the original anyway.  Debbie Harry saw rap as a new and emerging genre, she was WAY ahead of her time on that subject, and had a LOT to do with rap becoming mainstream.  You don't have to like rap to appreciate what she did for it.

Funny you should mention Joni Mitchell.  After hearing this awesome remix, I looked up Rhythm Scholar, and their catalog of remixes of popular songs is amazing, and goes from The Beatles, to Coldplay, to Snoop and Public Enemy.  Among the remixes is Joni Mitchell's "Both Sides Now".  You can listen to it all free on Soundcloud or download the remixes directly from his website:

Not only does this DJ remix the songs using the original elements, but for several songs he hired studio musicians to come add new instrumental tracks.  Thanks RP for another amazing music discovery!

This one is brilliant

Does not measure up to the original (but what would)

Yep! mine too lol
I like this a lot, but I want to hear the full version from time-to-time. Yes it is very dated and a bit cringe, but it still has its place.
Such an erotic photo. She was always SO cool.

7 because it's Blondie's classic.  It would have been 10 if it had not been desecrated by remixing.
What was a Masterpiece is made ridiculous here.
Can we finally say it. The much lionized "dj/producer/mixologist" is essentially a talentless douchebag, too long overcompensated at the expense of the musician
So how do you categorize/pigeonhole this song?

Went from a 6 to an 8 today. Wanted to share but the video is DEEscuzzting. Went with the Purrfection remix ... Love the sounds. Thanks RP!

yet another blundering of a decent job called a remix. leave the original alone;
no one wants to see the Donald's face pasted on the Mona Lisa. Why support these corruptions of good music?

Being a remix it has to have something in parenthesis beside the name.  Usually that something is:  something mix.  Why not Doomsday Deathmix, what with the tolling bells and apocalyptic back beats.
I'm a sucker for this updated sound. Blondie forever!

 Funny!

Sounds like The Propellerheads.  Love it!
That bass line is unmistakable, but I was expecting a cover, so I was pleased to hear Deborah Harry's vocals kick in.  This most excellent remix is a nice update to a classic.

Where's the man from Mars?
normally this kind of remix makes me quickly skip but... i lingered on this one long enough to get caught by it... nice one Bill.
Very  groovy!
I know the written lyrics say one thing, but she sings something different..regarding what's going on with the fingers...
Not bad. The original has a quite tightly played rhythm with a great arrangement. No need for a remix like this. Mostly though, I really miss the brass/horns of the original, they gave it a lot more swing than this mix. They should have left those in!
Not a fan of Blondie, as the drummer did suck.  But this track, with a drummer, it is worthy.  Though chimes, over the top.  You did not need to go there.

You'd probably have to ask the Rhythm Scholar remix people why they chose such a name; they seem to be pretty lighthearted with their remix names.  Maybe those tunes you mentioned are coming soon!

Autoamerican was the first album (cassette) I purchased as a kid.  Had Parallel Lines on 8 track.  Eventually all of them on vinyl.  Sigh.  Blondie was just the best...
I'm not normally a fan of remixes, but this is pretty good (still like the original better though).

And now I can never unsee that video. I need an episode of Sesame Street or something, stat. Holy crap.
WoW. Great claim as the first rap played on mainstream radio. Cheers Bill!
Outstanding update of a classic - nicely done
. . . and a truly outstanding cover image. . .
Ahhhh...that bass lick.
Most enjoyable.
out of contrast, bill will play the original just adjacent to this.
Incredible version, love it

Pretty much anything with the glorious Ms. Harry and her sensuous voice is at least an 8... :)
Oh stop it. I'm too old to be chair-dancing to a remix of a song I remember from a million years ago.
It's really great hearing a good song, made to sound so much different. Finding these rarities it is important to Share with All of Us. Keep digging them up and playing ALL of them!
do NOT stop finding these :)

As far as I remember (and granted it was 1980, so my memory may be a little sketchy), Blondie's "Autoamerican" album was released a few weeks before The Clash's "Sandinista".  I believe that the single "Rapture" was also released before the single "The Magnificent Seven".

Autoamerican was released in November of 1980, Sandinista! in December 1980.  "Rapture" was released as a single in Jan of 81.  I don't think "the Magnificent Seven" and/or "Magnificent Dance" was released until the spring of 81
