must there have been to drive you here?
Was it uplifting or was it deformed?
Faulting and rifting, you folded.
What does it feel like to fall
in slow motion despite it all?
There's no time to think it through
when we're connected over the blue.
Everything is moving so fast.
I am unlimited.
Everything is moving so fast.
I am unlimited.
What sort of wisdom and what kind of thought
must here have been to scatter you?
So far and random, your heavenly bodies
still see the faint light in your eyes.
What does it feel like to fall
in slow motion despite it all?
There's no time to think it through
when we're connected over the blue.
Everything is moving so fast.
I am unlimited.

Ah I remember one from school: My country tis of thee, sweet land of liberty, of the icing. 🎂
Presumably the country is Iceland?
This one sounds like "I am a lunatic"

Just caught the mondegreen chuckles. I laughed at those. My memorable one (only since it got so much air time) "Dirty Deeds, Done Dirt Cheap" as "Dirty Deeds, Thunder Chief". For the longest time, I tried to figure out the INDIAN connection, 'til someone finally pointed out that there was none. A former girlfriend lived with me for almost 2 years before she finally admitted her mondegreen was Elton John's "Tiny Dancer" She always heard "Hold me closer Tiny Dancer." as "Hold me closer Tony Danza". I still get a chuckle every time I even think of that song.
Back in the day, a friend of mine interpreted that lyric as "Dirty Deeds, Thunder Cheese." Makes even less sense than "Thunder Chief." The mondegreen that I clung to for years was the opening line to the Grease song "You're the One that I Want," -- "I've got shoes, they're multiplying" Yes, I knew that made no sense.

Omg. My older brother also sang "Thunder Chief" up until I corrected him a couple years ago. Wow, I really thought it was only him. Cheers!
Those are called "mondegreens" The term was inspired by a misinterpretation of the line "They hae slain the Earl o' Moray and laid him on the green," from the Scottish ballad the Bonny Earl of Moray. Countless English schoolchildren sing this as "They have slain the Earl of Moray and Lady Mondegreen."
My baby is the Queen of the Mondegreen! E.g. Creedence Clearwater Revival's "There's a bathroom on the right." (bad moon on the rise)
For years , when I heard Bob Seger sing "You always won..." in the song Still the Same, all I heard was "Walrus one...".
and there's the common mishear on Blinded by the Light ("wrapped like a douche" instead of the correct "revved up like a deuce")

Hmmm...I disagree...change my mind...
The Main Mix has become my close companion lately. It's a lot more listenable (my tastes fed) than I remember it. For lack of something a fraction this good, I'd fallen into the musical doldrums and seldom switched anything on. Gotta say, I'm loving. No joke, it's improved my mood. Kudos.
I have to say that Cat Stevens and Peter Gabriel still make me reach for PSD. And as much as I like some of the foreign language tunes I don't think I'll ever enjoy songs where I don't know what's being sung (except for good scat), they make me wish I was pan-lingual. I'd settle for bi-lingual, but the UC couldn't pull it off.

If the tune were a bit peppier this could be the theme for a new internet service!

I heard "I am a manatee" and it made perfect sense to me. To a manatee, everything is moving fast.
Just borrow the Doctor's Tardis
"Everything is moving so fast.
I am a militant."
Checked the lyrics.
OK, that changes things a bit.
Billions & Billions.....(Sagan)

That's all I've ever heard.

perfect road song
You could always go to their house and do it in person.
Fully buttered and salted to my ears. Delicious.

Love to expand my vocabulary with in-vogue words. Thanks.

Yes, and... look closely.
I wouldn't ever confess even to knowing such a mondegreen. Although, you could argue, it might qualify as an eggcorn.

They make a good effort toward putting space-time into perspective. Makes me want an OMT (One More Time) button that would allow listenears to replay a finite number of songs — just for the giggles, finite number. Fixed number, too. We already have 0 cornered, though.

Perhaps the song didn't arrive at RP until prior to Oct 11, 2010. I really should have checked this out before commenting. Everything is so complicated.
Not complicated, just moving so fast.
lol - Do you remember what 's.o.l.' stands for, Mr Debater?
Not seeing that. You should be able to reply to any comment.
I don't see that cut-off for replying to song comments on this page, but that has happened to me on other song pages. Perhaps it's down to a glitch as to how a page loads from to time to time...

"I had some dreams there were clowns in my coffee..."
Jimi's 'Excuse me while I kiss this guy" is another classic, along with the surreal Simon & Garfunkel/Star Trek morph of 'Captain Picard on the New Jersey Turnpike'.

I admit to having heard David Byrne's "Strange Overtones" as "Strange Overflow", which made me think of every plumbing emergency I've ever had. I also had a high school classmate who misheard the refrain from Deep Purple's "Smoke on the Water" as "Go, Cousin Walter, while you're in disguise." That may be worth a guffaw.

Now I hear it too, and consequently am also giggling.
Hehe. Thought nearly the same some slow moments ago....
How very-very terrible!!!
I'm going to miss your comments here. RIP, Cynaera.
I second that.
Luckily, Richmond VA came thru relatively unscathed.
Thoughts and prayers to everyone else in Sandy's path!!

We have moved beyond that these days. Come on up and have a look see. Montreal is great but if you really want to immerse yourself in the Quebecoise culture head to Quebec City. It's great. Winter or Summer.
Of course since I wrote this the province of Quebec voted in a provincial government that has separation as one of its party platforms. Not something that they are pushing on current agenda but c'est vraiment fou.

I'm an American, and I spent a few weeks in eastern Canada, where English was not the first language - I told them I couldn't speak French, and they were awesome. I agree - I've never met a Canadian I didn't like. And I have a couple that I wish I could reconnect with, because they helped me through a very scary time. I'd heard the stories about how Americans were idiots and the French-speaking people were haughty and not willing to help dorks like me... But I got there, and to a person, the people in Toronto and Montréal were helpful, friendly, and warm. I have NO bad to say about them. They were so cool to me, the stupid American who didn't speak French. If I had to pick a place to live other than where I am now, I think Montréal would be second. Finland or Denmark would be first, but only because I have a friend in Finland and relatives in Denmark.
And, to pull this subject back onto the music - I love this song because of the haunting vocals. This, like Fever Ray, haunts my dreams. I don't sleep very much, and even when I can sleep, it's not for very long. I'm told that a fragmented sleep is detrimental to good health. Feh. I'm healthy. Just not very articulate when it comes to posting things here...

I don't know about that, Cynaera. I thought you just told us yet another stellar, little anecdote about a time in your life, spurred somehow by the music you've heard and we all are sharing here (RP). I'm a Torontonian myself, at least since '75, and I love to visit Montreal. So, it does my heart some good to hear your kind words re: my fellow Canadians, and that you found solace here when needed. All good stuff. We can never have too much of that! There are, after all, bastards lurking everywhere, most often, only if we give them reason to be.
And as for this song...never heard it before. Love it! The harmonies grabbed me. Go figure, I have to listen to an American internet radio station to discover a song by a group from my own back yard (so to speak). Gimme more, Bill!
john, who occasionally comes out of the corner
Canada is a favorite vacation destination for me because of this and of course the natural beauty as well.
I'm worried about how to explain when knockin heavans door as an American. nice song for 30years.
And now, back to feeding the trolls . . .
PS - perhaps I'm losing my American cred, but I've never met a Canadian I didn't like.
I guess you've never met Doug Henning - an insidious psychopath.
Good tune, by the way.
Agreed!!

Try a different position next time! (perhaps moving faster? )

Wake up, America! We're in danger of losing our cultural identity to Canada. Soon the only musical performer we'll have left to call our own will be Justin Bieber.
What's that? He's Canadian?!
No-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o!
You can have Justin... The more I hear about him, the less I want him representing Canada. As pop stars go, it could be worse, I guess.

Somewhere, Lorne Greene is snickering at that notion, while sipping a Labatt's.
Hmm...
my thought too
I hope that's a sauvignon blanc you were chilling. Chilling a cabernet sauvignon in some parts is a prosecutable, criminal offense. And if it isn't, it should be...
Actually, a slightly chilled Cab can be quite nice, especially during the summer months. But what do I know?
