We-hell-I see him every night in tight blue jeans--
In the pages of a Blue Boy magazine
Hey I've been looking for a new sensation
I'm picking up--good vibrations--
Oop--she bop--

Do I wanna go out with a lion's roar
Huh, yea, I wanna go south n get me some more
Hey, they say that a stitch in time saves nine
They say I better stop--or I'll go blind
Oop--she bop--she bop

She bop--he bop--a--we bop
I bop--you bop--a--they bop
Be bop--be bop--a--lu--bop,
I hope He will understand
She bop--he bop--a--we bop
I bop--you bop--a--they bop
Be bop--be bop--a--lu--she bop,
Oo--oo--she--do--she bop--she bop

(whistle)...

Hey, hey--they say I better get a chaperone
Because I can't stop messin' with the danger zone
No, I won't worry, and I won't fret--
There ain't no law against it yet--
Oop--she bop--she bop--

She bop--he bop--a--we bop
I bop--you bop--a--they bop
Be bop--be bop--a--lu--bop,
I hope He will understand
She bop--he bop--a--we bop
I bop--you bop--a--they bop
Be bop--be bop--a--lu--she bop,
Oo--oo--she--do--she bop--she bop

You had an extra word. There, I fixed it for you.
Okay, I will chip in, too:

The Guggenheim Grotto's Wonderful Wizard (off the album... ahem.... Waltzing Alone)

Here's another for the list:

8. He's My Best Friend -- Jellyfish

What is her right hand doing on that cover?
5.9, really?  I think it could have used a faster tempo but it's not that bad a song.
When I scrolled down to read the wiki entry, or, the stats or whatever, my jaw nearly hit the floor! I graduated in '79. I don't ever recall hearing this chick back then! Maybe because I'm a Led head but, the one fact that had my jaw drop.... This chick is 68 frickin years old! Musta been one toke too many! I don't care.... I'm 60 so, I'm into older women! And Cyndi, even with her quirkiness, is still eye popping! Thnx RP!

Eight, because of the Blue Angel/John Morelli/ Cheap Voova six-degrees thing.

Blue AngelCyndi Lauper – lead singer, acoustic pianoJohn Turi – keyboards, saxophoneJohnny "Bullet" Morelli – drumsLee Brovitz – bassArthur "Rockin' A" Neilson – guitar
Wow. That's different. I didn't even think it was Cyndi Lauper. You keep us guessing, Bill!
I would have been happy with something in between this and the original and maybe some third element that makes it quirky - metal core? 60's Psych?
Love Cyndi, but this is sick as $hit!

Cyndi Lauper?! Well, encoulez mes vieilles bottes! Who'd have guessed it? A very nice song, 7 from the Nottingham jury. And not at all influenced by her red dress and sultry expression ;-)
Huh.  {#Undecided}
I never really appreciated this song until I heard this version.  Thanks, RP!

How about "Rosie" by Jackson Browne?

Most likely, just trying to please some angsty fans.  You know.. you can please some people some of the time,etc....  Doesn't harm her talent and legacy as far as I am concerned.

Another surprise pop song that works acoustically is britney's 'baby one more time', as covered by Travis (live, but maybe never officially recorded)

That one's also been covered by Bowling for Soup and Fountains of Wayne, both of whom did an admirable job, though you wouldn't know it by the ratings — I think the FoW version got a 3.8, which is beyond purple on the playlist page (ultraviolet?).

Wow, I just looked at the rating distribution for this track and was surprised at how all over the map it is, moreso than any other I have seen on RP. Usually, it will gradually increase to peak at the majority. Not in this case. Interesting. I give it a 5 for the sake of reminiscence.

C'mon, ya gotta see the humor here. Look at the cover art. She's looking like "do you mind, I'm trying to get busy here!" The song rates a 2, +1 for the humor, final rating 3.
Wow...this is only my second 1 in almost three years of listening.
C'mon, guys. This is not bad. If you were hearing this song for the first time and you'd never heard of Cyndi Lauper, you'd be all over it.

Oh, I'm not saying it's not BAD, 'cause I STILL don't like it much. I'm just saying there is NO WAY Ms. Lauper is so stupid as to think an 'angsty' acoustic version of 'She-Bop' is 'art'. It's a JOKE, people! Double album notwithstanding, this one is a JOKE. c.
A very beautiful woman with a lovely voice who spent so long hiding both from the industry and public, and made a mint there for a while doing so.

I agree with the comments about a "deep" version of an originally goofy pop song. This just sounds a bit silly. I'll take the original.

I had CC's take on this one - thanks for the term "angsty" - I was looking for a word...
Dressing like that gives her +8 for guts in my book, she can obviously poke fun at herself.

This sucks. I like the original much better. It's about masturbation for crying out loud - it should sound fun! This sounds...boring. Then the whistling - I expect to see Clint Eastwood...well, I'll spare you the visual. ..."I couldn't get lucky...punk."
Wow. Cyndi Lauper on RP. *blink* *blink blink*

I've never been much of a fan of hers, and don't think all that much of this song either, but I give credit where it is due. I'll stick by my interpretation: there is no way she thinks an acoustic version of 'She Bop' is serious. It is clearly a tongue-in-cheek performance, made for giggles at least. Think of Alanis Morrissette doing her emo version of 'My Humps': it's the same sort of schtick.
I don't think this is the same as Alanis doing the B.E.P.
Bill, Are you trying to see if we're paying attention? We are so hopefully you can go back to playing real music. Thanks!!
She sounds like she's had way too much fun to me
Cyndi should be given a global ban from recording studios.

Yeaaah, no. Cyndi Lauper is an accomplished musician who's remained quite busy in her 'declining years'. She is quite intelligent and is dedicated to a variety of worthwhile causes. I've never been much of a fan of hers, and don't think all that much of this song either, but I give credit where it is due. Too bad that Lauper is only known for this song. The rest of her non-Top-40 career is covered in excellent singing and creative as hell. She's really a gem, and wish she got more airplay.

An accoustic version of this? That cover does make me laugh, though...how amazingly absurd... I would like to suggest another kind of bop.
Somehow a song about masturbation just doesn\'t cut it as an acoustic ballad - my first ever 1

Hehehehe. This version makes you realize how truly absurd the lyrics are. Somehow it sounded very cryptic and daring in the original version and utterly stupid and vapid once slowed down enough that you actually hear it word for word.
Everyone should bop!!!
