i love patty very much. i love paul very much. unfortunately, that's where we stop meeting in agreement, here. i don't find their vocal "compatibility" a given at all. i don't think i'd like them together at all. but, sure, they'd look cute together...

unfortunately, as for the others you've matched - i'm not a big fan of any of those aside from townes.

however, if you haven't, i'd agree that it would be a fun thread to have on the chat comment forum. if you're still around, you should make this thread, i bet you'd get a lot of people to chime in.

And Gawd almighty don't it probably feel like that if you're living out West these days?  
Or in hurricane assaulted coastal areas?
These are days of dazed confusion.  
The flood has come. only not quite as predicted.
Fires blot out the night.
Some scream for water; and others wish for less of it.
Blood it runs everywhere.  
The future has come in like the leading edge of a tsunami.
It will not be denied, as it sweeps aside all that we know and love.
We certainly need a life line.  
But there's not a one to be found.
except in this.  
We're all on our own folks, and it's only in working together
that we can craft a line that saves all our sorry asses
from becoming victims to all that we have done.

Bonnie is a bit more bluesy the Patty.  Both great ginger singers, though I bet it Bonnie didn't color she would be white now.{#Mrgreen}

Compared to Bonnie Raitt, she's young (Raitt's got 15 years on her).  And I hear a bit of her, both have strong Gospel influences in their music!  Very nice!

I have to agree. I love PG, and I'm always hoping she'll write some songs that are a bit more hopeful. This one fits the bill, but I think it's a bit much.

I am a HUGE Patty fan, but this is not one of my favorites. Don't get me wrong, I like it, and it is a fun song when sung live, but there are others that I appreciate more. She's the best, most consistent songwriter today. The songs off Impossible Dream that I like more are: Kite Rowing Song Don't Come Easy Florida (a masterpiece)

This one has a great gospel feel to it. I have yet to hear a Patty Griffin song that I don't love. This song is a bit misplaced on Impossible Dream, I think - it's the only real upbeat song on the disc.

Glad to hear her getting more exposure. They play her on a couple of the local FM stations here, but I don't know if she gets other AAA type exposure. She really has a great voice and wonderful songwriting talent. Glad to hear her any and all of her stuff. Have loved all of it.
