Something tells me
That a drop of your wine
Is sweeter than mine
Someone scared me
Into opening my mind
And drank the poisonous wine
I know I'm not dead
Oh God, I'm not dead
Oh God, I'm not dead yet
Something tells me that your cigarette smoke
Will not make me choke
Something scared me
And I haven't let go
I must face this alone
I know I'm not dead
Oh God no I'm not dead
Oh God, I know I'm not dead yet
The more I believe
The less I enjoy this life
The less I need anyone
The more I need you

Fantastic atmosphere once one lets themself get pulled into it.  This song has really grown on me.

A friend who was a big Blind Melon fan turned me on to this album years ago.  Still enjoy it from time to time.  If you like this tune I'd recommend checking it out.  It's pretty good all the way through.

Cigarette smoke ALWAYS makes me choke. Pisses me off when the neighbor's foul nicotine smoke comes wafting through my open windows. That lyric poked the pissiness.
I could listen to this every day, thanks Bill!!!
this is catchy…
These guys have a sorta Jeff Buckley vibe that I like.
Love it not dead after the Dead
Wow these are some bad lyrics....
Today it's Jerry Garcia's version of Bird Song followed by "Not Dead"... double irony.

Superb, and thanks Mr & Mrs G., for introducing me to yet another top band.

OMG that's one of the best dumb jokes I've ever heard! Thanks for sharing ;-)
I wonder if jellyfish are sad because there are no peanut butter fish....
Weirdly compelling listening
Nice transition from Paul Simon - The Afterlife. From the comments, hasn't played on Radio Paradise for 5 years.
So I wonder how long it took Bill to remember "...that song I used to play that sounded like this new one from Paul Simon..."

How do you replace Hoon with a dude who sounds excatly like him? Interesting. Kind of like the dude who replaced Bon Scott in AC/DC, who sounds exactly like Scott. I am a big Melon fan.

I was thoroughly compelled to post an image reply to this, but then...nah.
A great song to follow this one would be the "I'm not dead yet" song from Spamalot.
The quivering voice in the chorus reminds me of why I don't like Bright Eyes. The idea that fragility necessarily equates to sincerity is false. Otherwise, this song might be alright.

Didn't Unified Theory start out as a *STRING* quartet?
That's a good THEORY. Still largely unproven. Still an excellent tune from a solid album.
Yowsers. Smoke...choke?

Sounds a bit like Hoon singing

That's how I feel about this whole album.
"something tells me that your cigarette smoke will not make me choke"...?? this is awful
I really want to say something really bad.it's a 1 for me.
I love half of this, and really dislike half. Guess I need to listen to it again.
Didn't Unified Theory start out as a *STRING* quartet?
Bought this album on iTunes (before the ability to have a portion given back to RP, unfortunately) after hearing it here on RP. It is VERY good, and worth the purchase. Very happy!
I enjoyed this. Muy bueno

funny you should mention that - when they toured, they frequently played a seriously arse-kickin' cover of Pink Floyd's "Breathe". also check out Blind Melon if you dig his guitar work.
Buy this cd. :nodhead:
Love this song! I believe these are members of Pearl Jam and Blind Melon. They are no longer a band however. Too bad. They're quite good!
I can dig it.

I read the title and think Monty Python Holy Grail. Can't help it... Nice tune from these guys, anyway.

love it! you guys should play every track from the album!!!
This is pretty good. First time I've heard it.
"Something scared me and I haven't let go, I must face this alone" Sounds like someone battling addiction, do you think?
cool tune and indentifiable lyrics (have I died and not known it?) - deserves a much better rating, and this is the first time I'm hearing it. to all the detractors I have nuthin' to say but (excuse the pun)
YAWN :( :(
I agree with you...

You couldn't be more right.
I\'m pretty close to dead listening to it!
Compare this to the song that comes after, \"Common Disaster\" by the Cowboy Junkies. \"Not Dead\" is subtle as a sledgehammer and uninteresting musically. Blech. Boring.
love it! you guys should play every track from the album!!!
