Now, this tune here should be easy for you to deal with
All you gotta do is, is remember back home, you know what I mean
When you was sitting out behind the house
Or practicing on your own guit feble
Tryin' to get things together
And you couldn't make in up your mind
You kinda half-way knew what you wanted to do
But, but you didn't have it all together, you know
But you didn't know you wanted to travel
Ain't that right!
Yeah, I remember them days real good
I know
Didn't have really many clothes
I didn't know nobody to call, to sing for you
So you had to get out there in no time
You know, so
You don't make no tiffanies, you say, "I'm goin'
And I know I got a great time, but I'm goin' anyway"
Whatever happens, what happens?
Whatever happens, I gotta pay my dues somewhere
Listen
Dreamed that I was lucky
But I woke up cold in hand, yeah
Hey, I dreamed that I was lucky, darlin'
But I woke up cold in hand, yeah, yeah
I dreamed I had you all by myself
But now I know you found you another man, yeah
Oh, that's why I wonderin'
Will a matchbox hold my clothes?
Hey, sometimes I wonder, darlin'
Will a matchbox hold my clothes? Yeah, yeah
You know I haven't got so many
But I got so far to go, yeah
Yes, you got a good woman
You better pin her to your side, yeah
Hey, if you gotta good lady, fellow
You better pin'er up to your side, yeah, yeah
Because if she flag my train, buddy
I'm bound to let her ride well
Oh, that's why I wonder
Will a matchbox hold my clothes?
Hey, sometimes I wonder, darlin'
Will a matchbox hold my clothes? Yeah, yeah
You know I haven't got so many
But I got so far to go, yeah, ain't that right?
I see you might do something with it
I hope so
Yeah, take it
You know, fix it like it you want
All you gotta do is, is remember back home, you know what I mean
When you was sitting out behind the house
Or practicing on your own guit feble
Tryin' to get things together

I saw footage of Otis Rush playing a right-handed guitar - knobs on top - left handed, but other pics show left-handed guitars. Apparently he'd string those upside-down, probably a holdover from playing right-handed axes. Amazing talent, no matter how he did it.

Albert was one of the few who played the flying V guitar. Cool. He was from E. St. Louis.

I was very fortunate to see SRV and AK at Heinz Hall in Pittsburgh, probably around when this was released. When Albert appeared on stage, whilst his band played the into, plugged in flying V and hit that one note, it cut through me like a rocket. Chills.
Then SRV came on and when he launched into his solos, I thought he'd rocket off the stage on his boot heels, intense!
This is a great CD with stories from Albert and Stevie, highly recommended.

Ah yes the Blues, my first love
Yep, can't stop dancing and appreciating RP especially in these crazy times.
This sure hit the spot!
Take care everyone!

+1 today, this track is an appealing balance of laid-back & blistering guitars, each making the other sound even better; heck, this new 9-rating is nearly not enough.....Long Live RP!!
AK and SRV.....an amazing combination,VAUU

I don't know I kind of look at Stevie Ray as taking Albert's playing a step further. The student overtaking the master. Albert was indeed a master but imo Stevie is the best that ever put on a strap; better than Hendrix, better than Kath and to be honest I'm not even a huge fan of Stevie's music, but I know greatness when I see it.
Stevie Ray doesn't do much for me, but Albert was a GOD! That makes it at least an 8.

Sure as hell ain't any rendition of the Beatles rendition of the previous rendition(s). These guys should've learned how to play their instruments. Never enough parking valets or office assistants in this world.

Ah...the "flying V" Rickenbacker guitar...being played left-handed.
They just don't make them like Albert King any more.

Flamin' fingers! These guys are awesome
Saw him on a bill with the Flamin' Groovies and the Chambers Brothers at Winterland in probably '68.
Luckily, saw each of these guys lots in the 80s and 90s, and they sure JAMMED! The Blues field has since narrowed a great deal, but there are still a few True Blues men out there. Can't wait to get a good headful from Big Head Todd Dec. 27th at The Boulder Theater!
Dang. Getting bluesed out here. I'm going over to "Chocolate Frosted Sugar Bombs" for some upbeat Power Pop!
I must boast about that I have been to "The King of Blues mr AAAAAAAALBEEEEEERT King" live in my little hometown of Jönköping in Sweden.

Liked it so much, I bought the album.
This session was taped and shows up on TV periodically. I think on PBS during pledge periods.
This song always gets me out of my chair. Volume up. 5 minute dance break!
Just listening to the whole album, now that I just bought it.
"if she flags down my train, I'm bound to let her ride."
Well, this is awesome,
splendid guitar!
I just had to crank this one up, quite a bit!

Outstanding
this is "godlike" :)
Yesssssssss!
Albert King was such a loose real boogie live show. Made me think "is me made of rubber and why is my body moving this way?" Don't know who's more fun: King or Albert Collins.
SRV and AK- Oh Yeah!!!!!!!
Can't. Stop. Dancing. What a great blend of talents!
Wow, this great.
I can't believe that I hadn't come across AK before, shame it is ~20 years after his passing.
This sits right up ther alongside "Champion" Jack Dupree, BBKing etc.
What a great voice and sense of timing with the guitar.

Saw Albert years ago in a small bar. The middle finger of his fretting hand was bandaged with some metal brace thingy. He still put on a smokin' show. I was amazed at how well he still played.
that's a head bobber and a toe tapper.
I've never heard this before. It's goooood!
happy thursday!
Such great chemistry.
oh yeah!!!
Love this album. Such a great intimate, "sit there and jam" feel to it. Maybe there's another session out there somewhere undiscovered.... One can hope.....

great record, not the best cut but still love it, Albert was such a influence on so many guitar players but as far as commercial fame Freddie and Albert took a back seat to BB Love them all but Albert and Freddie just tore it up in person and had the pleasure of seeing all of them numerous times. BB did play all 3 days at the Texas Pop Festival, the only person to do so.

Great album!! The whole thing just kicks ass. One legend playing with another one up and coming. Whenever you have Albert King playing you know it's going to be great, and when he plays rythm to SRV it just becomes transcendent. I could do without the banter, but the playing is freaking outstanding.
Also not much to add except since these two are guitar gods this song has to be good.
