Ha! When this came on I had to check right away to see if it was King Bob. Obviously a few others had the same thought.  I love the Queen's version!
Awful...              same goes for creedence

Classic song. Great cover.

{#Roflol} still ill !

This sounds like one of the songs in Diddy Kong Racing, perhaps a snow level
Come on you guys, this is a classic.

My first impression, too!

No Thanks
Fun dance tune

True enough, but this unholy amalgam brewed for the tourist trade isn't it. Some original Little Nathan or Zachary Richard, however, would provide a more accurate ear exam for zydeco tolerance.

Update - the impact of the horrific oil spill is less than originally thought, and ecological recovery is (for the most part) occurring faster than projected. Didn't have to be that way. A real miracle and lesson there.

The moratorium on drilling, however (both actual and defacto through permitting), is currently wrecking communities, families and all of the support industries including agricultural and fishing that are intertwined in a fifty year relationship in South Louisiana. A case of experts from afar with no knowledge coming in and assuming people are too dumb to help themselves or understand their own community. Imposing kneejerk theory on their proven practice. Decreases national security, increases the transfer of US wealth to the Middle East. A second disaster, manmade as well.

The music moved all over after Katrina, but is slowly heading home. Come down to Acadiana and see for yourself. Lafayette is a good town to start with. You will have a great time, meet some wonderful people, eat incredible food and get the first hand scoop on the complicated issues surrounding oil, fisheries, estuary preservation and the future of an area very different from the tourist traps of the French Quarter.

C'est si bon, mon cher! Venir ici et passez un bon temp!

Organic and Playful! Long live Queen Ida and Louisiana!
One of the greats. Dare ya to sit still.

Hearing this song just makes me feel sick about what's happening in the gulf right now and the impact it will likely have on the area.  Thanks for playing this — it made the whole situation suddenly very "real" for me.  The power of music ...
Need more Zydeco!!!{#Bananasplit}

Sometimes the real stuff is a bit hard on the ears. Love the cajun accordion on this, but I could do without yer woman's voice. Sacrilege I know, but I'll take Karen Carpenter's version :)

Just last night I downloaded 6 Hank Williams tunes.  This was one of them.
Reminds me of the Blues Festival we have here every 4th of July weekend. One day is always Zydeco day. I think Queen Ida has played before.
I remember liking this when I was a kid.  Now it seems way too simple and repetitive.  3

This is the real stuff! 9!

I still think she sounds like Bob Dylan with a bad sinus infection

Thought this was Marcia Ball at first
Yay! Bad karaoke!
Please make it stop,

 Ok set the mike down -  - down   that's right, nice and easy, now step away from the spot-light,
keep your hands up and your mouth shut, ... just  keep on a walkin' and don't stop until your clean
outta this county — Nobody does Hank around here. Didn't your mother teach you no manners ? Nobody does Hank cept
for HANK   HEY ! — AND DON'T COME BACK !!!

She sounds like the guy from the Bodeans.
Great Song but nasty Faux Dylan singing.

Always happy when it makes its occasional appearance around RP!

Jambalaya tastes so much better when it's cooked by Fats Domino.

Not the best version but,
JazzFest, anyone?

I did my 20 years in a row....

It's gotten too crowded and expensive!  (Great fest, though~)

Not the best version but,
JazzFest, anyone?
As a native Louisianaian, I must say this version really sucks wind.  The band's ok, but her vocals — {#Rolleyes}
Crap song. Crap cover.
R.I.P., Hoyt Axton, whose version I heard first.

Love the food. The music? Not so much....

Great song, but not the best recording of this. Try listening to the Funky Meters version. At first I thought this was Bob Dylan with a head cold.{#Snooty}

Holy crap!  I saw Queen Ida live at my tiny Appalachian college!  She throws one helluva party!
Perhaps a runny nose?

Cool.  The song's not dead!!  I used to hear the old versions of this from the 50s when my step dad DJ'ed at an oldies station.  Nice beat.  You can sure hear this as the origin of James McMurtry's Choctaw Bingo.

Son of a gun...we'll have big fun on the bayou!

Sort of fun. Haven't heard it in around a zillion years, either.
