Just realized I have a bunch of free upgrades to give for AwardWallet. I use it to keep track of hotel/airline/credit card points and reservations. It helps coordinate all the accounts and reminds me if something's near expiration.

Hanging in Nagano tonight for New Year’s Eve. Soba noodles in a duck broth for lunch at the train station (where you get the best food). Grabbed a nice sushi platter to eat in the hotel room and wash down with White Oak single malt Akashi whisky.

Tomorrow, up early to go check out the snow monkeys, and then lunch and sake tasting. Reservations as a nice place nearby for dinner.

Next day, we head back to Hyatt Ginza for 5d to finish off a month in the country. Japan is a wonderful place, but I admit that it’s hard on the brain if you don’t speak the language. Fortunately, the Apple “Translation” program has really helped.

If you’re looking to travel to someplace clean, safe, friendly, and - right now - a good deal with the Yen/Dollar conversion, then a week or so in Tokyo/Kyoto is a good choice. Almost all my hotel rooms have been paid by credit card points. Happy to give advice if you’re interested.

But tonight: Happy New Year!
See you in 2024.

I reckon I could get a couple more with a bit of effort but there isn't really much point.

I doubt there are any circumstances where I could accomplish passport #2. Good luck going for three.

Are you interested in art?  Go to the Art Institute, and then walk up the street to the park with the "bean" sculpture for a great photo op
Straight out the front doors of the Art Institute is Adams Street.  Walk up Adams to the sign where Route 66 begins (another photo op), and then go to the Berghoff for lunch.  The Berghoff holds the first liquor license issued in Chicago when prohibition was repealed.

Further south along the lake front is the museum campus.  There's the Field Museum of Natural History, the Adler Planetarium, and the Shedd Aquarium, not to mention the Museum of Science and Industry.

HAVE FUN!

It was my first time to Chicago 2 years ago to see the Frozen Four college hockey tournament.
Stayed at the AC Hotel 630 N Rush St, Chicago, IL 60611. Was just opened when we went. Modern Euro style accommodations.
These were walking distance from the hotel. And 2 blocks from Michigan Ave and all the shopping you could ever want.
If you like steak, Ditka's Restaurant. The 8 of us guys really enjoyed the meal. {#Hungry}
Uno's original Deep Dish Pizza restaurant.

Take in a Cubies game if you like baseball. And even if you don't, just go and check it off a bucket list. {#Lol}

Looking for some tips on upcoming (Sep) trip to (flying into) London.  Also looking to plan side trips to either Bath, or Lille France and then Bruges.  Originally was planning to do Bath, Bruges then back to London, but it looks like the trip from Bath to Bruges would be a full day, and we will only be there for 9 days and dont want to waste too much time travelling.  Tanks a lot.

Are you looking for hotels or B&B’s? If you want to stay in North London (25 min on the tube to the city center), here’s a great B&B:

If you want a hotel, Strand Palace Hotel is great, but more expensive, of course. It’s close to Covent Garden, though.

And get an Oyster card, especially if you plan to come again, it's valid forever. The fare is about half price. If you want to go to Oxford, this bus is good! https://x90.oxfordbus.co.uk

If you want any specific information about shopping in London, just ask!

Personally, I love the little town, Burford in the Cotswolds . There's a hotel/restaurant called The Lamb Inn - it's wonderful!

Thanks.
